Solatube recognised as a solution to protect the environment at COP26

I’ve long been an advocate for a more sustainable way of living, so I was extremely happy when Solatube were identified and selected by the Solar Impulse Foundation as a genuine solution to help cut energy use by delivering daylight in to dark rooms and buildings.

The Solar Impulse Foundation recently presented a list of ‘1000+ efficient and profitable solutions to protect the environment’ to world leaders at COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.

Solatube tubular skylights are recommended as one of those solutions for both residential and commercial installations, helping both individuals and businesses use less energy and so reduce our impact on the planet and its environment, whilst also saving money at the same time.

Solatube tubular skylights help reduce energy demand

To be recognised as a truly efficient and effective way of lighting buildings whilst helping to protect the environment just goes to show how good Solatube tubular skylights are. It’s also reassuring to know that Solatubes are the only tubular daylighting device (TDD for short) to be included in the Solar Impulse Foundation’s ‘Solution Guide’.

This achievement recognises the quality and investment that Solatube has put in to the tubular skylight concept, ever since they came up with the idea over 30 years ago. For Solatube to be acknowledged as the best tubular skylight system to help reduce energy demand around the world should give users and potential purchasers even more peace of mind.

The Solar Impulse Foundation

In order to address sustainability challenges while enabling economic growth, founder Bertrand Piccard and the Solar Impulse Foundation identified 1000+ clean and profitable solutions. His presence at the COP26 Climate Change Conference should not be underestimated. The Solar Impulse Foundation has now organized these solutions into a search-engine for climate action called the ‘Solutions Guide – in order to support their implementation at scale. You can find Solatube tubular skylights in this search engine.

Founder, Bertrand Piccard

“One of the first to envision ecology through the lens of profitability, Bertrand Piccard has always advocated that solving climate change – rather than an expensive problem – is a fantastic market opportunity. He actively speaks out against the absurdity of the outdated and polluting devices and systems we are still using and promotes the benefits of existing efficient technologies to motivate governments and industries to take action”. Solar Impulse Foundation.

Efficient solutions for a clean economic growth

With the UN Climate Change Conference, known as COP26, taking place in Glasgow this year, the Solar Impulse Foundation took the opportunity to present its highly regarded Solutions Guide to world leaders and delegates. It offered a significant opportunity to show that saving the planet can also be efficient and profitable and is no longer the preserve of minority groups. What it is saying is that there are lots of products and services out there already running as viable and profitable businesses. These are solutions that challenge the conventional, resource-hungry approach to supply and demand, demonstrating that, with a bit of extra thinking and changing the way we approach things, we don’t have to devour the earth’s resources to continue living on the planet.

So, lets do it

As Betrand Piccard says “It’s time to use these 1000+ efficient solutions to make our world cleaner, more efficient and boost economic growth while encouraging climate action”. It could well be a Solatube tubular skylight to pipe daylight in to dark interiors, or one of over 1000 other fantastic solutions.

So why not take a look at some of the other inclusions in the Solutions Guide– there are some fascinating and exciting opportunities out there, in addition to Solatubes.
